Symbolic Self-Portrait
For my symbolic self-portrait, I essentially decided to draw many of the things I like and that make me who I am. Since my zodiac sign is Gemini, I drew the symbol. I also drew a paintbrush and a seashell, to symbolize my love for art and the beach. Next to those is a guitar, which I've been playing for about three years and has become one of my favorite hobbies. I also drew a globe, symbolizing my fascination with the world and traveling, and an umbrella, since I love the rainy weather. Inside my handprint, I wrote adjectives that I felt described me.
Surrealist Spirit Animal: Mirrored Parrots
Choosing an animal to represent me was difficult, but I knew that some kind of confusing and different art piece would best represent me. I chose the parrot as my spirit animal, since they are very smart, and learn quickly. They also seem to have a very confident attitude about them, which isn't a trait I possess, but one I want to achieve. My zodiac sign is the Gemini, so I decided to create two parrots to represent the twins. One is flipped, giving a surreal feel. The parrots are identical, so looking at the picture from either angle won't affect the piece. There are two different environments, so that no matter how it's viewed, it always seems out of place.
Room with a View
For my piece, I chose to draw a bay window framing the view of a tropical jungle. I'm generally stressed out a lot of the time, so I chose to give my piece a calming feel as well as a view of a place where I would love to go and relax. I've never been anywhere even remotely similar to the tropical jungle I drew, but someday I would love to travel and explore.
